Evaporation system speeds HPLC sample
purification
Genevac has recently launched the R-4 random access evaporation system specifically designed to aid efficient solvent evaporation from purified HPLC sample fractions
Where purified fractions consist of varying gradients of different solvents, such as water and acetonitrile, the resulting difference in evaporation rates often causes rotor imbalance during the drying process, causing significant instrument vibration and shutdown In addition, fast drying fractions can reach unacceptable temperatures without adequate temperature control

Pittcon preview: Genevac
Genevac's stand at Pittcon (New Orleans, 17-22 March 2002) will focus on products for enhancing productivity in drug discovery, medicinal chemistry and combinatorial chemistry
The R-4 system incorporates the revolutionary Genevac auto balancing mechanism to continuously compensate for up to 250g rotor imbalance during the drying process, ensuring smooth and efficient solvent evaporation.
The sample rotor, constructed from solid aluminium, is controlled by the RotorGuard infrared temperature controller to ensure rapid evaporation of all samples, eliminating the risk of overheating and degrading fast drying fractions.
Due to the unique auto balancing mechanism and temperature control system, for the first time in centrifugal evaporation systems the R-4 allows samples to be loaded and unloaded as required with minimum attention required to balance samples across the rotor.
