Corrosive solvents, poisons, and radioactive samples can be safely removed in a remote fume hood without manual intervention with this robotic handler

Genevac has begun delivery of a new robotic centrifugal evaporator designed to help companies which need to use hazardous solvents The Auto-HT8 is a robot-ready version of the tried and tested Genevac HT-8 evaporator, which is in widespread use throughout Europe and North America

The new high productivity system incorporates remote access doors and an indexing rotor to ensure that sample holders always line up with the robot arm.

In addition, full remote control and data logging via the built-in RS232C interface makes it easy to integrate the Auto-HT8 with most laboratory automation systems.

Automating the solvent removal process as well as increasing productivity has significant advantages with certain sample types.

Now corrosive solvents such as trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), poisons such as thionyl chloride, and radioactive samples can be safely removed in a remote fume hood without direct operator intervention.

This presents a huge opportunity for companies to improve laboratory health and safety without compromising throughput in organic compound synthesis.

The new Auto-HT8 is customised to individual requirement by Genevac to provide seamless integration with the chosen robot.

In addition to the front-loading rotor and access door, the robotic unit boasts a patented auto-balancer capable of absorbing high imbalance differences of up to 85g across the rotor.

To allow unattended operation for extended periods, the waste solvent condenser unit is continuous-running and automatically defrosts when full.
