Evaporator upgrade wins interest
Laboratories working on microarray development showed particular interest in the new concentration mode that has been added to bench top solvent removal systems
Genevac, a supplier of centrifugal evaporator technology, chose the Biotechnica 2003 exhibition in Hannover, Germany (7-9 October 2003) to introduce new functionality to its EZ-2 solvent removal system range At the show laboratories working on microarray development showed particular interest in the new concentration mode that has been added to the EZ-2 and EZ-2 Plus bench top solvent removal systems

The new concentration mode enables the versatile EZ-2 systems to concentrate samples down to a desired volume that may then be used in a microarray spotter or injected into an HPLC system for further analysis.
Incorporating the latest centrifugal evaporation technology in a compact and easy-to-use benchtop model, the EZ-2 series is said to be priced to be affordable by almost any laboratory.
The proprietary smart software including 'auto stop when dry' facility was welcomed by chemists working on developing and purifying temperature sensitive peptides.
A range of new features has also been introduced in response to feedback from users.
These include solvent removal methods optimised to give better performance with less-than-full loads in the evaporation chamber and new facility for a timed run mode.
The latter development now allows users to preset a fixed system run time.
This is very useful when drying mixed samples that dry at differing rates.
If when the EZ-2 shuts off automatically, there are some samples not quite fully dry, it is now simple to program a short fixed time run to finally dry the more stubborn samples. Request a free brochure from Genevac ...
