'Library Maintenance for the Smaller Pharma'

A Genevac product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Jun 23, 2009

A pharmaceutical company has used Genevac's Model DD-4X centrifugal evaporator to address the sample integrity and physical-storage problems associated with compound library maintenance.

An application note from Genevac titled 'Library Maintenance for the Smaller Pharma' details the application, describing a high-throughput process to produce compound libraries as dry films that have been validated for long-term storage.

The authors describe how compounds were solubilised, reformatted from 96- to 384-well plates and then dried down using a Genevac DD-4X centrifugal evaporator for storage at room temperature.

The high capacity of the Model DD-4X facilitates sample-safe evaporation of sixteen 384-well plates to dryness in only 25 minutes at 40C.

The described dry-film methodology reduces the time for compound preparation and produces enough assay-ready sets of dry film plates for at least 10 screens.

The Model DD-4X from Genevac is an affordable, high-performance centrifugal evaporator system designed to handle the wide range of sample types and formats encountered in pharmaceutical laboratories.
