Spectrograph features highest sensitivity

Echelle spectrograph with CCD detection has been developed with focus on applications in edge plasma spectroscopy of thermonuclear plasmas

As a result of cooperation between Systematix in Sweden and GWU-Lasertechnik in Germany, a new Echelle spectrograph with CCD detection has been launched on the market.

The spectrograph called Spectrelle is the first model in a series of future application dedicated Spectrelle models.

The present model, Spectrelle 20000, has been developed with focus on applications in edge plasma spectroscopy of thermonuclear plasmas.

It simultaneously records high resolution spectra at a frame rate of up to one Hertz depending on illumination conditions.

Through a special optical design the Spectrelle 20000 has a uniquely high throughput.

Its F-number of 3.6 is said to be better than any other commercial Echelle spectrograph on the market.

It has the following main features.

Focal length 110mm.

F-number 3.6.

Spectral range 365-700nm.

Spectral resolution 20000 FWHM (~3 channels).

Number of spectral channels in the range: 47000.

Detector: Alta 47+Broadband (1024x1024 pixels).

The optics in the Spectrelle 20000, including entrance aperture and camera, is mounted on an Invar framework, isolated from the outer housing.

This gives the system a unique thermal and mechanical stability.

The control software, developed in C# for the .net platform under Windows XP is integrated with the Peax spectral viewer and analysis software which includes a database for displaying searching and identifying elements in a spectrum.

A Labview SDK (software development kit) for operating the spectrograph is also available.
