Innovative low force universal test
machine

Ametek is launching its innovative low force universal test machine and non contact Infra Red Extensometer equipment for test precision on stand 8030 at Inspex 2001

For the first time in the UK at Inspex 2001, Ametek will be launching its innovative low force universal test machine and non contact Infra Red Extensometer equipment for test precision on stand 8030 The Lloyd Instruments Lfplus is designed for materials testing and force measurement up to 1kN (225lbf)

This easy to use, value for money instrument accommodates XLC Series loadcells or Chatillon digital force gauges for precise measurement with +0.15% of full scale or +0.5% of reading.

Other exhibits will include the 5kN LR5Kplus twin column test machine, high reliability servo pneumatic fatigue test equipment, a carton compression system, new Nexygen software upgrades and the renowned Davenport MFI-10 Melt Flow Index polymer tester.

The LFplus is modular in design, so customers can combine features and build a solution to meet their needs.

The test speed ranges from 0.05 to 1270mm/minute (0.02 to 50 inch/minute), with a speed accuracy better than 0.1% at full load.

A 500mm (20 inches) crosshead travel, and 175mm (6.9inches) between the crosshead and column generates enough work space to test large specimens.

Other features include configurable work surfaces to mount different grips, an easy to use control panel, and a computer interface for Nexygen software control.

Infra Red Extensometry measures small precise movements of a sample under test.

It uses non-contact beam technology to track the movement of markers placed on a sample.

This fully automatic 'plug-and-play' system can be used with the company's LR, Plus and EZ series machines.

The company's materials testing solutions are ideal for many applications including medical device manufacturing, electronic components, packaging, spring testing, food and pharmaceutical, plastics, rubber, textiles, adhesives, metals, and more.

Designed with twin columns, the LR5Kplus is ideal for testing materials under different environmental conditions.

It has ten user defined set-ups, a 600 result storage capacity, and a 1kHz data sampling rate ensures testing accuracy.

A flash upgradeable processor conveniently accepts upgrades, there is Nexygen software control and a self diagnostic capability reduces downtime.

The servo pneumatic fatigue test machine, developed with Si-Plan Electronics Research of Stratford-Upon-Avon, UK, is used to test the safety and reliability of materials over long periods.

The system operates on compressed air, for a quiet, economical and easy to maintain operation.

To ensure continuous reliability over long periods, a RISC processor has been incorporated into the digital controller.

Along with a 5kN force capacity, the instrument also features a static testing capability.

The Davenport MFI-10 automates the melt flow and melt volume rate testing of thermoplastic polymers.

Easy to operate, it features built in temperature control with automatic melt density calculation and 'Bubble eliminator' calculations for accurate melt flow measurements.

Other features include automatic test selection with Nexygen software, auto-flow rate timer, auto weight loaders and auto cut-off.

The Carton Compression Tester is a compression cage that sits underneath a universal test machine to test entire packages, containers, crates and other finished products up to dimensions of 1m3.

Fully flexible, this system also allows simultaneous testing of smaller samples on the standard machine.

Ametek's Material Test Business Unit is part of the companyûs Test and Calibration Instrument Division headquartered in Largo, Florida USA.

The Material Test Business Unit has manufacturing operations in Fareham, UK and Largo and markets speciality materials testing products and systems under the Lloyd Instruments, Chatillon, Nexygen and Davenport brand names.

is a leading global manufacturer of electrical and electromechanical products with annual sales of nearly $1 billion. Request a free brochure from Lloyd Instruments ...
