Software quickly looks at relevant data

A solution to the problem of graphically analysing large amounts of data generated during high dynamic data acquisition with multi-channel measurement systems

HBM has released its DataView software to provide a solution to the problem of graphically analysing large amounts of data generated during high dynamic data acquisition with multi-channel measurement systems During vehicle road test programmes, for example, multi-channel measurement systems are used to obtain dynamic data

The data can easily amount to several million measured values per data record and generate file sizes in the gigabyte range.

Graphically analysing these files is necessary but very time-consuming, both in terms of handling the files and generating any diagrams.

HBM has developed compression algorithms to markedly reduce the size of the database and facilitate handling.

The internal hard disk of HBM's MGCplus amplifier system is used to generate the original measurement files and some compressed files.

DataView gives an overview of the signal behaviour by creating curve representations of these files.

It also provides an 'Intelligent Magnifier' to show uncompressed time sections of the original data record where the resolution is insufficient to display transient events.

To help users keep track of their location in the data record, DataView displays the current section in a second window.

The software permits the simultaneous display of several channels from various files with different sample rates.

DataView allows users to easily check large data records for individual events and highlight relevant sections for further detailed analysis.

DataView is available as an integral part of Catman 4.5 Professional and Enterprise versions and it can be purchased as a stand-alone product. Request a free brochure from HBM UK ...
