Hiden has introduced its HPR-40 dissolved species analyser to address the requirement for analysis of dissolved gases and vapours in aqueous solution in fluid and semi-fluid media.
The mass spectrometer-based system provides fast, real-time analysis capability for both single and multi-species measurement with low sample uptake, says the company.
The systems are fully user-programmable and monitor all gaseous species with molecular weights below 300amu.
Gas/vapour permeable membrane interfaces are configured for both static and dynamic flow applications and are available either in slender probe form for direct insertion in the media or as discreet flow-through modules.
The A-series modules are specific to photo-sensitive investigations and feature low internal volumes to 2cc together with integrated magnetically driven agitators to ensure uniform media distribution.
The optional multiport inlet manifold extends the system to enable on-line real-time measurement from up to eight sampling points.
Application areas are diverse and include studies of fermentation cultures, environmental analyses and microbiological research.
Specific application examples include on-board measurement of dimethyl sulphide distributions in sea water and argon in lake water, gas exchange processes in plant root structures, analysis of gases in peat cores and soils and high-sensitivity monitoring of diverse volatile organic species.
