Feeling the pressure
Miniature devices provide enhanced accuracy and low-cost sensing for use in many high-volume, high-performance applications including medical equipment, altimeters and barometers, pneumatic controls
Honeywell has announced availability of the HPX series pressure sensors suited for many demanding, high-performance applications using non-corrosive, non-ionic working fluids like the air and dry gases found in medical equipment, altimeters, barometers and pneumatic controls HPX pressure sensors provide high performance sensing in two different package configurations: DIP (dual in-line package) and SOIC (small outline integrated circuit)

Surface mount pressure sensors
Honeywell has introduced the 26PC SMT (surface mount technology) series sensor, the first product offering in its new 20PC SMT pressure sensor family
The gauge devices come in a six-pin DIP, and the absolute devices come in an eight-pin surface mount SOIC package.
Both sensor styles are non-amplified and non-calibrated.
The user may provide HPX series sensors with amplification and signal conditioning circuitry to meet specific application requirements.
Typical applications include medical equipment, altimeters and barometers, pneumatic controls and leak detection.
"HPX sensors have a wide operating temperature range and excellent price for performance" said Honeywell senior product specialist Mike Adkins.
HPX sensors feature Wheatstone bridge construction, silicon piezoresistive technology and ratiometric output that provide application flexibility, design simplicity and ease of end product manufacturing.
The miniature package sizes help reduce the overall size of the end product.
The series offers sensors with pressure ranges from 0psi to 100psi.
A wide operating temperature range of approximately -40C to 125C on most listings and fast response time of 1ms typically promotes sensor use in many applications.
The choice of absolute or gauge sensing types, as well as the surface mount and through-hole mounting configurations, provide flexibility in end product manufacturing.
