Tail flick meter is said to be useful for detecting the effect of analgesics, assessing drug candidates, or quantifying neuropathy

This unit measures reaction to radiant energy from a light source The light beam is focused on the tail, and an optical sensor records latency when the animal flicks the tail in response to IR stimulus

Reaction time can be read directly from the display, or output data directly to a computer.

Trial number, IR intensity, and reaction time are all recorded.

The Tail Flick Meter is useful for detecting the effect of analgesics, assessing drug candidates, or quantifying neuropathy.
