A new body composition analysis system has been introduced by Harvard Apparatus
The new quantitative analysis device is ideal for use in carrying out obesity research in a wide range of laboratory animals.
The ImpediVet can be used to determine total body water, intra and extra cellular fluid, fat-free mass and fat mass.
This animal friendly device, the ImpediVet, is a tetra-polar bioimpedance spectrometer that has been validated against accepted methodology.
Traditional methods of body composition analysis are time consuming, cumbersome and require traumatic animal procedures including sacrifice using certain techniques.
The currently accepted NMR methodologies are extremely cost prohibitive, yet the ImpediVet is a minimally invasive and offers a simple to use affordable alternative method for accurately obtaining these critical body composition values.
Years of development have gone into this technology and the ImpediVet portable device is the culmination of these development efforts that has produced an analysis system that is easy to use and assures researchers accurate results.
The open architecture software allows for the capability to use with a wide range of species and the parameters for rats are already validated.
The new system is exclusively available from Harvard Apppartus which is a global developer, manufacturer and distributor of innovative and specialised products for bioresearch applications.
