Institute of Clinical Research (ICR) and the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) are to collaborate on selected projects of mutual benefit in Europe and North America.

Following recent discussions to foster good relations with other professional groups, the Institute of Clinical Research (ICR) board confirms that it has reached an agreement with the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) to collaborate on "selected projects of mutual benefit to members of both organisations" in Europe and North America The collaboration may extend to joint marketing programmes and the sharing and development of educational materials, but both organisations will remain separate and independent

John Hooper, chief executive of ICR, said: "This agreement recognises the need for sister organisations to work together in mutual respect, to create synergies and reduce operating costs, where applicable, by sharing knowledge and skills.

"This new agreement is strongly in line with our commitment to foster good relations with other professional groups and we look forward to what we anticipate will be an exciting and productive partnership".

ICR is committed to promoting knowledge and understanding of clinical research by engaging the healthcare community and the general public.

Forums and regional seminars which are free to ICR members are currently held in Southern England, Scotland and various locations throughout Europe during the year with new locations in the UK for 2005-6.

The ICR's remit is to drive up the standards of clinical research and supports its members at every career stage from trainee to senior professional and will be hosting an open day on 21 October at its Marlow head office including a free workshop entitled It's your institute.

The day represents an opportunity to network with peers, visit the resource centre, meet ICR staff, find out about ICR's special interest groups and also purchase publications at a discount.
