Life sciences application architecture
Provides a complete range of reusable business components for life sciences to deliver functionality for the scientist
IDBS has announced the availability of DBOS, its life sciences application architecture.
Established components of the architecture such as MathIQ, ChemIQ and ChemXtra are already being used by a number of IDBS clients.
Building on this core competency, new functionality has now been released in the form of DBOS to provide a business driven, component based architecture that can be used by IT departments, scientists or IDBS consultants to extend the functionality of IDBS applications or to write bespoke life sciences applications.
DBOS provides a complete range of reusable business components for life sciences to deliver functionality for the scientist.
Extensible business rules are complemented by advanced chemistry support and are presented within a single application workbench for both the scientist and the technologist.
IDBS has incorporated its proven data management techniques into the application architecture combined with extensive experience of handling massive data volumes and providing methods of effective data sharing throughout the organisation.
The robust security and management of data, a key asset of any life sciences organisation, is therefore handled automatically.
In addition, IDBS provides a query engine and an ETL (extract, transform and load) module to map both IDBS and external data sources within the application architecture, therefore providing an open, consistent environment for handling all a corporation's life sciences data and activity.
These components, combined with core infrastructure modules such as security, auditing, dynamic forms and compliance, make up the DBOS architecture.
Neil Kipling, chairman and CEO of IDBS, commented "As corporate life becomes more complicated and creating a competitive difference becomes more crucial, IDBS recognises that our clients want to combine the intrinsic value and security of off the shelf solutions with the flexibility to customise and extend those applications to provide real competitive advantage.
"IDBS has developed extensive life sciences expertise during the last ten years and we have been reusing elements of this architecture within our own solutions extensively during this period.".
