Compact system that enables high yield protein expression from mammalian or insect cells growing in suspension

Integra Biosciences has announced the availability of Cellspin, a compact system that enables high yield protein expression from mammalian or insect cells growing in suspension.

Built to provide the versatility for use in research or laboratory scale cell cultivation each Cellspin stirring platform accommodates four flasks across a range of sizes (100ml, 250 ml, 500 ml and 1000ml).

The highly flexible system, comprising moisture-resistant flask deck and removable control unit, enables cell cultivation to take place in both standard and CO2 incubators.

The Cellspin system has been designed to be gentle on cells.

The rounded form of the proprietary dual glass pendulum stirring mechanism guarantees gentle but optimal mixing.

No heat is imparted to the cell suspension.

Cellspin flasks are manufactured to provide a high surface to volume ratio ensuring improved oxygenation over standard designs.

The stability of each flask, irrespective of its size, is guaranteed by auto-centre coning.

The Cellspin control unit enables the entire cell cultivation working process to be pre-programmed through use of a non-volatile memory facility.

Facility is provided for programming automatic adjustment of rotary velocity, rotary angle and the interval between plus length of work cycles allowing secure handling of even sensitive cell lines. The Cellspin may be expanded to incorporate up to eight stirring platforms and offers facility for controlling cell-rolling units enabling high laboratory productivity.
