Lab scientist wins 'Science in practice'
grant
£1500 award goes to biotech researcher at Celltech, to spend at either International Biotech or Lab Automation Europe
Awarded by the organisers of the International Biotech and Lab Automation Europe exhibitions (Olympia, London, UK), the 'Science in Practice' research grant for 2003 has been won by Christine Prosser, a research scientist from leading biotechnology company Celltech (Slough, UK) The Science in Practice research grant is awarded for the purchase of products from any of the exhibiting companies at either International Biotech or Lab Automation Europe

Worth £1500, this year's grant was open to practising life scientists who pre-registered for and attended either of last year's events.
With a 20% increase in visitor numbers over the previous year, Christine Prosser was amazed by her win.
"It was wonderful to get the call about this award and given the number of people who visited, totally unexpected! It's great that the event organisers recognise the contribution that life science laboratories and practising scientists make to the international economy.
"My lab will certainly make good use of it".
This year's International Biotech and Lab Automation Europe event will be held on 16-17 November 2004 at Olympia, London, and will be bigger than before.
In recognition of this, the Science in Practice award will be even better as Greg Cherry, event manager explained.
"We are keen to really get behind the life science industry and so plan to increase the value of this year's award and will be making an announcement about this in the near future.".
