Launched to an enthusiastic audience at the recent LabAutomation 2003 conference the new Katana robotic arm from Imix fills a gap in the field of laboratory automation Katana is a programmable robotic arm with fully integrated electronics able to operate with high precision in four degrees of freedom as standard

Available as a stand-alone system, on a linear axis or as a mobile robot Katana is uniquely versatile.

Designed specifically for the laboratory environment Katana can be used for a wide range of applications including picking and placement of plates or tubes, loading and unloading of centrifuges, incubators, readers, washers etc.

Katana only weighs 2.8kg yet has a payload of 500g.

Its working space extends in an approximate 50cm radius from its centre of rotation.

Direct control of Katana is via a serial interface by a PC, a programmable logic Controller (PLC) or mobile robotic interface.

Simple and versatile software with incorporated neuronal network tool allows easy programming and fast setup.
