"GE Analytical Instruments is a name that clearly defines our business, and GE's global presence, financial strength, and commitment... will greatly enhance our ability to support our customer base"

Ionics Instruments, recently acquired by General Electric, has been renamed GE Analytical Instruments.

The company is now part of GE Infrastructure, Water and Process Technologies.

"GE Analytical Instruments is a name that clearly defines our business, and GE's global presence, financial strength, and commitment to water management technology will greatly enhance our ability to support our customer base," said Michael Routh, VP and general manager of GE Analytical Instruments.

"Together, we offer a tremendous combination of people, technology, and solutions to help our customers win".

GE completed the Ionics acquisition on 22 February 2005.

As part of the rapidly-growing water and process technologies business within GE Infrastructure, GE Analytical Instruments will continue to develop innovative products and services to meet the most pressing analytical measurement needs of its customers, and will provide a new area of growth for GE, says the company.

GE Analytical Instruments manufactures three brands of analytical instruments: Sievers, Ionics, and Leakwise.

These instruments have a wide range of applications, including pharmaceutical, semiconductor, municipal water, petrochemical, power generation, environmental, and medical research.
