Resin can be used to eliminate contaminating phosphate from buffers and reagents used in phosphatase/ATPase assays in order to give extremely low backgrounds

Innova Biosciences has launched a product called PiBind, which is a resin that can be used to eliminate contaminating phosphate from buffers and reagents used in phosphatase/ATPase assays in order to give extremely low backgrounds It may also be used as a rapid alternative to desalting or dialysis for removal of Pi from tissue extracts

PiBind has an extremely high affinity for Pi; the resin has a capacity of >40umol/g and is unaffected by high salt (eg 1M NaCl) and reducing agents (eg 2mM DTT).The reagent is also stable to a range of buffer conditions, from pH8 (Tris) down to pH2.3 (glycine).

A sample treatment time of only a few minutes is sufficient to reduce high phosphate levels to control values.
