SYBR safe stain is non-mutagenic, environmentally safe, may be used with a visible light-based imaging system, and provides virtually the same performance as their ethidum bromide counterparts

Invitrogen says its popular bufferless E-Gel system for the separation of nucleic acids is now offered in a new colour - the SYBR Safe gel stain Replacing the traditional ethidium bromide, the SYBR Safe stain is non-mutagenic, environmentally safe, and may be used with a visible light-based imaging system

The first two products, E-Gel 1.2% and E-Gel 2% with SYBR Safe, provide virtually the same performance as their ethidum bromide E-Gel counterparts.

Finally, E-Gel with SYBR Safe reduces disposal costs, which normally require incineration for all ethidum-based gels.
