One-day meeting on railway noise and
vibration
Institute of Acoustics will bring together many of the world's experts in the field of railway noise and vibration for a one-day meeting on Wednesday 24 January 2007 at the Royal Society in London
The topic of the meeting will be vibration and structure-borne noise from trains in buildings Many domestic and commercial buildings are built near to or above railways
There are numerous ways of predicting the vibration and re-radiated noise in buildings but with a lot of confusion over the accuracy of predictions.
Experts will be offering their experience and shedding light on the effectiveness of the different methods currently used.
The meeting will also look at current local authority standards and discuss whether these adequately address occupier comfort.
The meeting will be of interest to local authority planners, engineering institutions, acoustic consultants, architects, house builders, railway engineers etc.
