Keeping samples clean and safe
Solid sample preparation system for microbiologist, biochemist and cell biologist keeps samples sterile and safe until needed
Interscience has developed a system for preparing solid samples prior to bacterial analysis The BagSystem is a complete range of BagMixer blenders and sterile BagFilter filter bags, together with all necessary accessories such as bag openers and holders, racks, closing clips and automatic pipets

Gravimetric diluter is easy to use
A gravimetric diluter, the BabyGravimat, has been developed to make microbiological sample dilutions directly in sterile BagFilter and Bagpage filter bags or sterile BagLight non-filter bags.
Spiral plater: accelerated bacterial enumeration
The Spiral method allows rapid bacterial enumeration while avoiding all or part of the intermediary dilutions
Designed for food microbiology, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, the BagSystem is said to be both hygienic and safe.
Samples being analysed never come into contact with the mixing chamber and run no risk of alteration or cross contamination.
The sample and diluting liquid are put in a sterile BagFilter filter bag.
The filter bag is placed in a BagMixer blender.
The sample is then crushed and mixed by the alternative movement of the paddles.
The resulting suspension can be pipeted out free of particles, which are retained by the filter.
Unlike rotating blade mixers, BagMixer uses blending paddles activated by a powerful motor that press the sample bag in such a way as to blend the sample while preserving cells for microbiological analysis.
The stainless steel units are equipped with a fully opening window door to allow visual control of the blending process and easy cleaning of the unit.
Two types of durable filter bags are available for the BagMixer: BagFilter and BagPage.
These bags have built-in, welded filters that ensure the removal of large particles before analysis.
They are available in different sizes, from 80 to 3500ml.
Usually, when a solid sample is prepared by mixing with a dilutant, some fibrous particles remain in the solution.
This can interfere with analysis results.
With BagPage and BagFilter, any solid fibres are separated from the filtered sample.
