In-line product moisture measurement

Isatec launches Tews Elektronik's highly-acurate in-line process microwave moisture measuring system, the MW3260 with planar sensor, in the UK and Ireland

The MW 3260 has been designed by Tews Elektronik for conveyor, silo, or other process applications where the measurement of accurate product moisture is essential The system is based on the microwave resonance method patented by Tews

This method calculates the water content of the product by determining the shift and the attenuation of the resonance frequency of the sensor.

In a typical application the product passes over the sensor surface so that the microwaves completely penetrate the product.

This ensures that all the physically bound water is measured, guaranteeing a highly accurate product moisture measurement.

The measurement is unaffected by variations in colour or surface structure and automatically compensates for variations of product density, allowing different depths of product layer to be presented to the sensor without affecting the results.

The planar sensor is mounted in a stainless steel housing and has a ceramic measuring surface, making the unit robust and very durable for even the most harsh environment.

The sensor comes in various sizes from 66mm to 120mm in diameter.

The measuring unit provides a fast measuring time of 5ms (typically) with a moisture measuring range of 0 - 70%, depending on sensor and product, and a measuring accuracy of +/- 2% of the maximum value of the measuring range.

The unit provides a user friendly menu structure and automatic self diagnostics, as well as allowing up to 20 different product calibrations to be stored in its memory.

The MW3260 has been successfully installed in many industries (eg food, chemical, pharmaceuticals, nature products, sweet stuff, building materials) throughout the world, and can be used on any product that requires an accurate moisture measurement.

Isatec says it will be installing the first system in the UK within the next month. Request a free brochure from Isatec ...
