High accuracy moisture measurement

Prior to their new microwave system, the laboratory used to take a 1-2g sample of material and then perform a Karl Fischer titration analysis for moisture which could take up to 20 minutes

Carron Phoenix of Falkirk last month completed the installation and training of its MW3150 microwave moisture laboratory system for the high accuracy measurement of material used in its range of filled composite products The granular quartz material was ideally suited for the MW3150 with PA H-177-40B applicator allowing the laboratory to take larger sample sizes based on the calibration made to Karl Fischer

Prior to their new microwave system, the laboratory used to take a 1-2g sample of material and then perform a Karl Fischer titration analysis for moisture which could take up to 20 minutes.

Now with the MW3150 the laboratory can take a 250g beaker sample and collect a moisture reading within three seconds.

The moisture ranges of the granular product are 0.01-0.2% moisture in varying colour and granule size.

This is why the microwave method used in the Tews Elektronik system is ideal - because it can measure moisture independent to density and is impartial to colour.

The laboratory at Carron has reportedly been very impressed with the ease of use and accuracy of the unit, which allows them to take more and larger samples faster and more efficiently.

An associated company in Germany has had an identical system running now in its laboratory for over three years. Request a free brochure from Isatec ...
