Throughout 2003 the company has embarked on a major expansion of the production facilities based in Theale, near Reading.
The company has expanded its existing production labs in addition to commissioning a new facility for research and development at the same location.
Central to this project was the decision to upgrade the aging chromatography data system to Chrom Perfect Spirit.
The two main functions of the software are to perform stringent QC tests and then to automate the production of product certification and box labels.
The project was completed in Summer 2003.
Stuart McKay, managing director of Hichrom, commented: "A networked chromatography data system has been central to production at HiChrom for a number of years, with every column produced being tested thoroughly as part of our quality control systems.
"This ensures our customers enjoy the highest standards from our products.
"Upgrading our chromatography data handling facilities was an essential element of our latest business expansion.
"However we had concerns about the potential to seriously disrupt our production during the rollout of the new system.
"After evaluating various suppliers, we decided to upgrade to Chrom Perfect Spirit version 5.5.
"A major factor in this decision was Justice Laboratory Software's pledge to utilise all of our existing data files and to provide us with a 'turn-key' solution with no production 'down-time'.
"We are pleased with the service we received and the successful roll-out of Chrom Perfect.".
