Output may be directed to the printer, a PDF file, an Ascii text file, or a sequence file.
Setting up and running searches are done through intuitive user forms broken into two sections.
The first relates to finding text, criteria like; user name, data file name, etc would be entered.
Next to each item's name are three radio buttons, which control the status.
The captions for these radio buttons are P (present), A (absent), and D (don't care).
The second section details the numeric items, captions for these radio buttons are S (single value), R (range), and D (don't care).
Searches are very fast and easy to set up and perform, says Justice.
Thousands of files can be searched in seconds.
Key to the system is its flexibility.
For example a very simple search would be: Find all analysis performed by user JohnS last month".
Or a more extensive search using multiple data syntax might be required: Find all analysis performed last week by JohnS on instrument number six, where component X was present between retention ten minutes and 10.8 minutes at a concentration of over 100ppm.
"Cims can search as efficiently as some Lims, however is not intended to replace a Lims, instead, it is designed to give the analyst the ability to prepare and preview the data before it is uploaded into the enterprise's data management systems" says Tarik Peterson, senior software development engineer, Justice Laboratory Software.
