Spectrophotometer needs just one
microlitre
Tiny sample volume and no need for a cuvette make this instrument suitable for applications including measurement of protein concentration and quality of nucleic acid samples
This is a spectrophotometer which uses only one microlitre of sample Nanodrop was developed in the USA for use in DuPont genomics laboratories, but the one microlitre sample volume and simple measurement process make it ideally suited for many applications
These include measurement of protein concentration, concentration and quality of nucleic acid samples up to 3.7mg/ml without dilution, Cy-dye label concentration of microarray samples and many others.
The patent pending process uses surface tension to draw the one microlitre sample between the ends of two optical fibres to establish the measurement path, and Nanodrop then automatically takes the full spectrum measurement.
After measurement, the one microlitre sample can simply be wiped from the surfaces, preventing carry over in successive measurements.
