Locations can be as vague as a building or as specific as a position within a box, and the number and type that can be created are limitless, allowing the system manager to map out the whole company structure.
The software uses a common Microsoft Outlook user interface style to facilitate a quick and easy learning curve for new users.
Once created, samples or collections of samples can be selected and moved around the location tree by a simple drag-and-drop mechanism.
As well as samples generated by a Lims, Stacy will track any other sample types within an organisation.
They can be defined with complete control over the entry fields and type of identifying data required, and details can be entered via spreadsheet, file import or bar-code reader.
Transaction types for receiving, moving and disposing of samples are defined by specification of all the entry fields required, including options for making entries unique and optional versus mandatory fields.
Where a Lims is used, Stacy provides automated integration to the Oracle study and sample database so that study samples can be registered directly to the tracking database.
All study-critical information about the sample is held to give complete control and monitoring throughout the study and sample life-cycle, and comprehensive grouping and display filtering techniques allow sample batches to be created and moved at the click of the mouse.
Stacy's comprehensive and flexible security structure guards against unauthorised access to data by permitting entry on a user-by-user basis.
System and sample-level security roles can be assigned to ensure that only individuals with appropriate assigned rights can perform each function.
Bar-code labels can be defined by the user to identify individual samples, including their location and container information along with label type, dimensions and content, and samples can be rapidly registered and located using Stacy's scanning facility.
