Digital microscope is portable and powerful
Based around a 2.3 megapixel digital camera, this device has a wide range of lenses to make it a versatile tool for multiple applications
Lambda Photometrics announces a new generation of versatile, high resolution digital microscope from Scalar in Japan.
The Scalar DG-2A is a complete system based around a 2.3 megapixel digital camera, with a Compact Flash memory card.
The range of lenses and accessories, along with the level of definition and portability, could make this a versatile tool for any organisation involved in research or quality control in the automotive, manufacturing, aeronautical, aerospace, electronics, and forensics industries.
This is the same system that is used by Nasa to inspect the wings and fuselage of the Space Shuttles.
The images can be viewed on the integrated 2" LCD monitor, then can be transferred via memory cards to a PC or fed directly to a monitor via a video output.
The large range of available lenses means that video or still images can be acquired from a huge range of situations.
High resolution lenses to x1000 magnification, micro-macro lenses to x100 magnification and standard lenses of x30 to x200 lead the option list that is supported by a wide range of specialist lenses including fisheye, coaxial illumination, zoom (to x200 magnification), bore, side viewing, UV/visible, infrared/visible, side lighting, endoscopes, non-shadow and phase contrast lenses.
Included with the basic kit are a battery, charger and a PCMCIA adaptor card, with options of wireless adaptors, hoods, microscope stands, and larger capacity memory cards.
The system is transported in a lightweight carry case making it ideal for field work.
