Exclusive rights to integrate technology
Agreement provides Malvern Instruments with exclusive access to ALV's world-class light scattering and correlator technology
Following Malvern Instruments's successful licensing of Nibs (non invasive backscatter) technology from ALV in 2001, the two companies are now entering into a special relationship The new relationship will permit the integration of ALV's expertise in the design of light scattering instrumentation and correlator technology, into Malvern Instruments products

The agreement with ALV illustrates Malvern's continuing commitment to providing solutions for the whole of the light scattering community.
The new product - the Malvern CGS-3 - is based on ALV's many years of experience in the field of light scattering.
With the emphasis on the ability to make precise, accurate and very reproducible static (SLS) and dynamic light scattering measurements (DLS) simultaneously, the product has been designed to eliminate many of the practical issues traditionally associated with the routine use of research grade light scattering goniometers.
Static and dynamic light scattering measurements can be used to determine certain physical parameters including: molecular weight (Mw), radius-of-gyration (Rg), A2 the second virial coefficient and hydrodynamic radius (Rh).
Typical materials include macromolecules (for example proteins, polymers, polysaccharides and others).
These measurements have particular application in the characterization of colloidal systems, proteins and macromolecules in solution; areas of growing importance in biotechnology, drug development and pharmaceutical formulation, for example, as well as traditional applications in the chemical industry.
