Asphalt man wins accoloade

US Association of Modified Asphalt Producers names Malvern's John Casola as its Person of the Year

John Casola, product sales manager for asphalts at Malvern Instruments, has been named by the Association of Modified Asphalt Producers (Amap) in the USA as its 2003 Person of the Year Previously director of technical services for Bohlin Instruments until its acquisition by Malvern in November last year, John Casola has a long history of involvement in material rheology

His association with the asphalt industry began with the US Strategic Highway Research Program when he worked closely with the research team to develop the first asphalt binder-specific dynamic shear rheometer.

He has also been a leading influence in developing an awareness and understanding of the Superpave binder specification among specifying agencies and private industry.

According to Jim Sattler, 2003 president of Amap, who presented the award, "John has been a champion of modified asphalt binders since the beginning and has been a key contributor to the growth and success of Amap since its formation five years ago.

"He has been the person to consult whenever Amap has needed help".

John Casola is based in Malvern Instruments in the USA.
