Knowledge and understanding of particle shape as well as size is now essential in the development and control of many industrial processes
The automated particle characterization system from Malvern Instruments is a new analytical tool that provides high quality, statistically significant particle size and shape information The Morphologi G3 builds on the success of its G2 predecessor, adding a new fully automated sample dispersion device and significantly extending automation and options for visualisation and data analysis

Sample dispersion unit is key to Morphologi G3
A key feature of the new Morphologi G3 automated particle characterisation system from Malvern Instruments is a novel, fully integrated sample dispersion unit (SDU)
Morphologi G3 made its European debut at Ilmac (25-28 Sep 07; Basel, Switzerland) and will be exhibited for the first time in North America at the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists Annual Meeting and Exposition in San Diego, CA (11-15 November).
The Morphologi G3 provides microscope quality images and delivers statistically significant data through the rapid analysis of hundreds of thousands of particles with little or no user intervention.
As with any analytical procedure, good sample preparation is a critical requirement and a major development in the Morphologi G3 is the novel fully integrated dry powder dispersion system.

Analytical tool delivers high quality, statistically significant particle size and shape data, together with microscope quality images, through rapid analysis of hundreds of thousands of particles
Precise software control of all dispersion parameters ensures highly reproducible dry powder dispersions with consistent and controlled particle orientation across a broad range of samples.
The sample is completely enclosed and the system allows easy dispensing from bulk materials and the preparation of multiple aliquots.
With the Morphologi G3 lack of data is never a problem - for every particle measured there is a choice of 20 different parameters to describe size and shape.
The Morphologi G3 offers a new software tool to compare and cluster data to find differences and similarities between multiple measurements.
With just a few clicks of the mouse, data is transformed into useful information, allowing the user to make decisions quickly and with confidence.
An interactive scattergram allows easy visualisation of measurement data and can be used to apply classifications and filters in order to group or exclude certain values based on any size or shape parameter.
Full automation of the Morphologi G3, using standard operating procedures (SOP) eliminates any user bias inherent in manual microscopy methods, and SOPs allow straightforward method development and easy electronic transfer.
Automatic calibration, conformance to 21CFR part 11 requirements and the availability of full IQ/OQ documentation ensure that the system is accurate and repeatable and all data is secure and validated. Request a free brochure from Malvern Instruments ...
