Young Investigator to present at TMS Summer School

The winner of the Magstim Young Investigators Award 2008, Dr Marco Davare, will return to the Magstim Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Summer School on 29 and 30 of May to present his work.

Dr Davare's study is entitled 'Understanding the cortical grasping network by using paired-pulse TMS'.

He will join researchers and academics from the fields of neuroscience and neurology for two days of seminars and networking.

Davare won the Magstim Young Investigator Award in 2008 for his research into how the brain controls precise hand movements.

'There is a clinical need to understand why hand and finger movements are particularly affected by damage to the cortex, and its major descending pathways,' said Davare.

'The TMS Summer School is a way for young scientists to be better known by the research community.

'It gives us the chance to meet with the top academics in our field and discuss our latest research,' he added.

This year's summer school will take place at the Kennedy Lecture Theatre, Institute of Child Health, UCL and will see international academics and researchers present on a wide range of topics around the themes of attention, perception, motor systems and cognition.

The meeting will also include the announcement of the Magstim Young Investigator Award 2009.
