Focus on accident prevention
Following on from its award-winning Health and Safety activities in 2000, Maybridge says it was once again an enthusiastic participant in last month's Health and Safety Week
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) designates one week each year during which employers are encouraged to organise specific Health and Safety training and activities The theme for 2001 was accident prevention
Maybridge health and safety officer Maggie Davies was keen to continue the task of raising awareness, and enlisted the services of various professionals in putting together a stimulating programme.
A glass blower provided a novel and interesting approach to training laboratory personnel in the safe handling of glassware.
Fire protection company Faddon gave practical demonstrations on how to tackle fires, with hands on training in the use of fire fighting equipment.
Advice on occupational dermatitis and the safe use of display screens was given.
Risk assessment programmes tailored to the needs of specific areas of the company were initiated and are continuing into next year.
