Kit uses an antibody directed against peroxisomal membrane protein 70 which is a high-abundance integral-membrane component of peroxisomes

Molecular Probes says its new SelectFXT Alexa Fluor 488 labelling kits provide all the reagents needed to selectively detect a range of intracellular components in fixed cells First launches in the SelectFXT range include kits to respectively label the endoplasmic reticulum, peroxisomes, and for detection of cytochrome C in fixed cells

Each kit includes a primary antibody against the specified target, a secondary antibody labelled with Molecular Probes's bright and photostable Alexa Fluor 488 dye, and cell-fixative and permeabilisation reagents and protocols for mammalian cell preparation and staining.

Fluorescence is observed using standard fluorescein filters.

Peroxisomes are single membrane-bound vesicles that are found in most eukaryotic cells.

Their chief function is to enzymatically oxidise fatty acids and to catalyse the by-product of H2O2.

For detection, the kit uses an antibody directed against peroxisomal membrane protein 70 (PMP70) which is a high-abundance integral-membrane component of peroxisomes.

To detect ER, a primary antibody is used directed against the ER-associated protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) and to achieve detection of cytochrome C the kit uses an anti-cytochrome C primary antibody.
