Seminar looks at equipment for future
legislation
The Applikon range of on-line analysis equipment will be introduced at a forthcoming Metrohm seminar discussing impending legislation and directives
Environmental monitoring is an important area of analysis, and most companies believe they have the necessary equipment to carry out analysis in accordance with current legislation What is often overlooked is impending legislation and directives which may make current equipment no longer capable of achieving detection limits or complying with new methodology

The aim of a forthcoming seminar is to discuss current equipment available from Metrohm, which will not only meet current requirements but will meet future legislation.
A range of products will be on show and a team of specialists will to discuss requirements during the day.
Metrohm UK will also launch at this seminar the market leading Applikon range of on-line analysis equipment.

Guest Speakers include: Dr Phil Jones of the Oceanography Department at Plymouth University and currently involved at the cutting edge of Ion Chromatography Column development; Heike Risse, World Product Manager Automation, Metrohm Herisau Switzerland; and Jan Huiskamp, European Manager Analyzer Division, Applikon On-Line Analyzers.
Metrohm UK has announced the acquisition of the Applikon range of on-line analysis equipment, which includes On-Line Process Instruments for COD, Alkalinity, Ammonia , Cyanide, Chlorine, Fluoride plus many other ions; the new MARGA (Monitor for Aerosols and Gases in Ambient Air) Instrument for continuous monitoring of air; and the new ON-Line VA system with integral digester.
Trace Metal Analysis using Voltammetry: Voltammetry ( VA) can achieve part per billion limits of detection for trace metals and for a fraction of the cost of other analytical techniques e.g ICP, ICP-MS, AAS.
In addition to this VA can also be used for analysis of other species such as anions, and electrochemically active organics.
Running costs are minimal, and the added advantage of being able to speciate metals e.g Cr3+/Cr6+ means that VA is one of the fastest growing analytical techniques today.
Ion Chromatography (IC) as an analytical tool from Metrohm has undergone tremendous growth over the last few years, partly due to its affordable initial capital outlay and subsequent low running costs, but primarily because it is an extremely powerful and versatile technique that affords the end user a wide range of quantitative information requiring only a small amount of sample.
TitrIC opens new possibilities in ion analysis through the unique combination of titration and ion chromatography, and fully enables the automatic analysis of drinking water.
All ionic components are determined quickly, reliably and reproducibly.
A full range of parameters such as pH , Conductivity , Hardness , Anions /Cations can be presented as a single report or stored in the integral database.
pH - The Correct Electrodes and measurement: pH is the most used technique in any laboratory these days, however it is probably one of the lest understood parameters to most analysts.
The correct choice of electrode is very important if one is to get the optimum result , other important considerations should be storage of electrode and electrolyte filling solution. Request a free brochure from Metrohm UK ...
