Iodide in milk using IC plus inline
dialysis
Iodide levels in milk and milk powder can be easily analysed using anion chromatography with conductivity detection after chemical suppression
Iodine is an essential trace element It is found in dairy products, sea fish, sea salt or iodised salt

Milk is of a quite complex constitution.
Especially the fat globules and casein micelles account for some unwanted matrix effects.
Time consuming external sample treatment procedures are no longer necessary if you use Metrohm's inline sample preparation (Misp) for ion chromatography.
The matrix of milk is removed fully automatic by inline dialysis prior to sample injection.
Analytical system: compact ion chromatography system containing the 861 compact IC and the 838 advanced IC dialysis sample processor MIC-7 compact.
This is is a compact anion system with chemical suppression and dialysis.
For routine tasks and detection limits down to the ppb range, the combination of the 761 compact IC with the 838 advanced IC dialysis sample processor is the optimal solution whenever contaminated samples have to be measured.
Dialysis is the method of choice whenever particles, oil droplets or coarse organic contaminants have to be kept away from the whole IC system.
The cellulose acetate dialysis membrane provides the necessary security without limiting the reproducibility and precision of the measurements.
As two valves are required for the dialysis, the 761 Compact IC is extended by one valve with the 812 Valve Unit.
The system is controlled by the IC Net software.
The separation column used is the Metrosep A Supp 5 - 150 separation column . Request a free brochure from Metrohm UK ...
