A Metrohm (UK) product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team May 15, 2009

Metrohm has announced that its 797 VA Computrace can perform trace metal analysis with the same or better sensitivity of an AAS or ICP instrument at a lower cost.

Apart from small amounts of reagents, only small volumes of pure nitrogen are required.

No expensive combustible gases are needed and no changes to the laboratory infrastructure to accommodate specialist gas supplies and fume hoods.

Apart from the determination of the total concentration, voltammetry can be used to perform speciation studies on certain metals, making it a useful tool for research groups interested in differentiating between the different states.

In addition, many different organic compounds can be determined should they undergo a reduction or oxidation potential and can be used in organic chemistry for the analysis of contaminants.

Certain environmentally sensitive anions such as cyanide can also be measured.
