Full range of organic solvent nanofiltration products are to be exhibited at Achema for the first time, and a new product to test OSN applications on the benchtop will be unveiled
Membrane Extraction Technology (Met), the sole distributor for Davison Membranes's Starmem range of organic solvent nanofiltration membranes, will be exhibiting its full range of products at Achema 2003 The Starmem range has exceptional performance in apolar solvents (eg toluene, ethyl acetate, Mek and xylene), and is available at molecular weight cut-offs of 200, 220, 280 and 400Da

The range is currently available as A4 sheets and as 2.5"x40" (active area two metres square) spiral wound modules suitable for process scale applications.
Using these membranes is a proven technology for reducing yield penalties associated with repeated extractions or chromatographic methods, and as such can add value to many processes in the pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals industry.
They are at the heart of the world's first solvent nanofiltration plant operating globally, Grace Davison's Max-Dewax process to recover solvents from lube oils.
Their potential applications include solvent exchanges, phase transfer catalyst recycle, organometallic catalyst recycle, organics recovery, product purification, and impurity removal.
As well as supplying the membranes, Met offers expertise on the technology and its use, based on several years of research experience.
Met's specialist engineers can design and install three scales of operation: lab, cross-flow rig, and plant-scale.
Further, Met will be using Achema to unveil a new product designed to empower chemists to test OSN applications on the benchtop - more details soon.
