Low cost counting accuracy for injection
moulder

Leicester-based injection moulder Abaloid Plastics has found a way to low-cost counting accuracy, thanks to the introduction of twenty new weighing machines

Abaloid Plastics purchased the Viper MonoBloc counting scales from Mettler Toledo as part of a push for higher accuracy on its production lines The company produces a wide range of injection moulded products, including components for the automotive industry, electronics and housewares

ISO1002 approved, it also has LCPB approval which enables it to manufacture components for security and fire protection equipment.

Employing around 70 people, it runs 20 injection moulding lines.

The Viper MonoBlocs are used to count components into boxes as they come off the production line.

As a reference scale, the Viper MonoBloc delivers highly accurate piece counting through its integrated draft shield and extremely high weighing accuracy.

Available in a number of models, it has a durable die-cast aluminium housing and stainless steel weighing pan.

A backlit display gives excellent readability and the data interface built in as standard enables communication with a printer, a second scale or a computer.

For Abaloid Plastics, the low cost of the Viper was an important factor, enabling the company to purchase all 20 scales at the same time.

Production manager Phil Hammond comments: "The Vipers offered us excellent value for money.

They are very robust, well-made machines, ideal for an industrial environment, and extremely accurate.

They have speeded up the counting process and made life much simpler on our production lines - we no longer have to switch scales from one line to another, so we get better consistency.

We have actually found that they have helped us to release labour to other areas of production." Abaloid Plastics purchased three different versions of the Viper Monobloc to cater for the various sizes of components they might need to count, some of which are very light in weight.

To maximise the flexibility of their use, special carrying cases with capacities marked on the outside have been made for each one.

All 20 machines are covered by a Mettler Toledo Silver service contract which provides an annual maintenance and calibration check. Request a free brochure from Mettler Toledo ...
