Micro PLCs perfect for distributed machine control
No longer restricted to standalone applications, the new FX1N and FX2N micro PLCs from Mitsubishi Electric can now control as Masters AS-i and I/O link networks.
The FX1S offers in its extremely compact construction very advanced functionality and a range of sizes covering 10, 14, 20 and 30 I/O models, for high-speed stand alone applications.
Small does not describe the FX1S's programming ability, with up to 2000 programming steps available, this powerful micro, enhances its capacity with 114 programming commands to choose from, allowing even complex programmes to be run.
Data handling has never been so extensive on any micro PLC, and with up to 2000 16 bit data registers to choose from, even complicated mathematics can be processed on this tiny controller.

The New FX1N PLC range can be configured to handle between 14 to 128 I/O.
The users I/O requirement is created by selecting a base unit of CPU and I/O, and then adding expansion base units and Blocks to form the exact PLC size they require.
The Expansion blocks also allow the PLC to control up to 48 Analogues (including thermocouples) and be a master to Fieldbus and Sensorbus networks such as CC-link, I/O Link and AS-i, or as a slave device to a host of other networks.
The FX1N also has the ability to have its own multi-drop network, where up to 8 PLCs can be connected, or if a PC is the master of the multi-drop up to 16 stations can be networked.
With up to 8000 programming steps available, an impressive 118 programming commands, and over 8000 16 bit data registers to utilise, the FX1N's ability to handle not just logical control system, but complicated mathematical and data processing, means that there are no limits to the application potential of this intelligent PLC.
Both of these new PLC ranges offer the latest in cutting edge PLC technology, With common features such as 60kHz high speed counter inputs, multi-loop PID algorithm control, integral real time calendar clocks, time channel switching, and dedicated time management functions which allow events to be logged, compared and actioned.
If positioning is the control requirement, the transistor output variants of the FX1S and FX1N can use 2 of the independent outputs as 100kHz pulse trains.
These can be used to drive servo amplifiers or stepper motors, and with the new positioning commands, they allow positioning tasks to be performed and complement perfectly Mitsubishi Electric's servo amplifiers, giving an extremely cost effective positioning system solution.
Both the FX1N and FX1S have flexible communication capability.
Both ranges allow the user to install additional RS232, RS422 or RS485 communication ports, for connecting peripherals.
The additional comms ports for RS232 can be used in 'No Protocol' mode and for RS422 or RS485 in a 'fixed protocol' mode.
With the addition of the easy to use GX-Developer or FX-PCS-WIN programming software, an HMI and either of the compact FX1S or FX1N PLCs, you can achieve reduced energy consumption at a low cost for a wide range of control solutions.
