Performance objectives from Olympus
The BX51 and BX61 high performance research microscopes boast an expanded range of specialist imaging applications, to give microscopists more flexibility than ever before
The extensive range of UIS objectives - renowned for producing images of great brightness, clarity, high contrast and high resolution - opens up advanced imaging for a wide range of applications.
The Uplapo series of UIS objectives is ideal for general fluorescence observation and DIC.
High numerical aperture, water-immersion objectives in the Uapo W series prevent the occurrence of spherical aberrations and give high resolution, high contrast images of the interior of cultured cells, fixed specimens in aqueous media or other specimens with a refractive index similar to that of water.
For maximum performance in fluorescence microscopy when using fluorescent probes and those for calcium ratio imaging or intra cellular pH measurement, a series of objectives with enhanced transmission for UV excitation at 340nm is particularly effective.
A 60x water immersion objective, corrected for apochromatic performance from 450 to 1100nm, is suitable for simultaneous observation of IR and visible DIC with no aberration or focus adjustment between these wavelengths.
The observation of cells at the molecular level is made possible with the Apo100x objective with NA of 1.65.
This enables the illumination of specimens with a NA higher than the refractive index of living cells.
An extensive range of accessories - a choice of stages, multi-observation attachments, bi- and trinocular tubes, video and camera ports, a C-mount, and other adapters - gives users increased flexibility for customisation round the basic Y-shaped frame.
The BX61 microscope gives the user full motorised control and operation.
A comprehensive selection of motorised modules has been incorporated to allow the microscopist to acquire images more quickly and more reliably.
Nosepiece, condenser, reflected light illuminator, filter wheels and Z-focusing can all be motorised.
This allows the user to program in complex procedures such as time-lapse imaging or successive images of multiple stained fluorescence specimens.
