Imaging choice for stereo microscopy
Two new zoom stereo microscopes have been designed to have the flexibility to cope with still and video imaging with the latest digital camera systems
Still and video imaging with the latest digital camera systems are essential components of modern microscopy.
As a leading camera manufacturer, Olympus is in the forefront of these imaging developments, and the new SZ61 and SZX7 zoom stereo microscopes are said to have the flexibility to use all a variety of imaging systems.
Both are available with a trinocular head allowing attachment of any C-mount compatible still or video camera.
Olympus provides a range of still cameras and works closely with video camera and specialist systems designers to support an extended range of options.
The Olympus DP70 employs an innovative shifting CCD system to give extra high resolution for still images - or high speed imaging for time sensitive applications such as observation of living specimens.
It can obtain still images, at a maximum recording size of 4080x3072 pixels in approximately three seconds.
Alternatively, the DP70 can display live images at 680x512 pixels at up to 15 frames per second.
The DP12 is a compact camera with a 3.34 million pixel CCD resolution to allow observation of even very fine structures within the specimen.
The camera is operated entirely from a small and rugged keypad and screen, with all controls near the operator's hand.
This eliminates the need to touch the camera head or the microscope for exposure, reducing the risk of camera shake.
The Camedia C-5050 is a high performance camera ideal for photomicrography recording and archiving in microscopy, with a 5 million pixel 1/1.8 inch CCD delivering superbly detailed images.
The tilting LCD monitor located on the rear of the camera makes it particularly easy to view the image when the camera is mounted on a vertical microscope port.
A complete integration with DP-Soft software makes the system perfect for image acquisition, archiving and analysis, and rapid transmission of images to co-researchers around the world.
The Analysis-Pro software provides professional image analysis.
Imaging choices are expanded with a variety of illumination methods including a thin LED transmitted lighting plate, stand-mountable light guides, and a 250W source for special applications.
