Simple and complex microscopy imaging systems
These new products are based on soft imaging system products tried and tested by the market and are said to offer a significant advance for biomedical applications
Two new products, AnalysisB and AnalysisD, have been added to Olympus's Cell imaging system.
The Cell product family comprises specially developed imaging systems for use in biological, pharmaceutical and medical research and in routine applications.
The systems offer solutions for straightforward fluorescence applications, image documentation, and archiving, as well as complex applications such as multidimensional imaging.
Olympus says the sophisticated performance and user-friendliness of these systems make them hard to resist.
Microscope imaging applications have become an omnipresent part of today's science and technology fields.
Dramatic advances have been made in digital photography as well as digital image processing, analysis, and archiving.
The application areas that microscopes are used in, and the environments in which microscopes are used, have changed dramatically over the past few years.
AnalysisB is designed for cell biology.
It is the core component of a complete microscopy system, which includes a digital camera and microscope, providing image acquisition and archiving.
The AnalysisB software contains standard image processing and measuring functions along with a clearly structured database and convenient report generation.
Image series are saved in a multidimensional image format and a navigation tool is provided for animating acquisitions.
Individual images can be stitched together into a panorama image and/or images generated with infinite depth of focus.
AnalysisD offers a wide variety of applications for integration of the motorised Olympus microscopes with complex experiments.
This includes automated acquisition of multi-fluorescence images, time-lapse series and 3D image stacks as well as scanning microtiter plates via motorised microscope stages.
The acquired multi-dimensional image data is archived in a database.
To view 3D image stacks, the SliceViewer generates slices perpendicular to the viewing plane.
The VoxelViewer generates iso-surface representations of 3D objects which users can rotate and position.
Various specialised analysis methods are available for evaluating data such as spectral un-mixing and deconvolution.
These latter two provide increased colour fidelity and spatial resolution, respectively.
