Groundbreaking new immunoassay system and connection system will be shown at Medica 2005, marking a step towards the stated Olympus goal of becoming a provider of complete clinical laboratory systems

European audiences will witness the public release of the first performance data of Olympus's groundbreaking new AU3000i immunoassay system during Medica in November 2005.

Additional highlights will include the Au-Connector which enables clinical chemistry and immunoassay analysers to be linked, OLA robotic solutions and advanced data handling software.

Taken together these advances mark a significant step towards the stated Olympus goal of becoming a provider of complete clinical laboratory systems.

The Olympus immunoassay offering - the AU3000i analyser and range of optimised heterogeneous assays - is designed to provide the same ease of use, reliability and high productivity that existing clinical chemistry customers have come to appreciate.

At Medica 2005, the AU3000i will be shown both as a separate workstation and also linked to an AU2700 chemistry system via an Au-Connector to form a single workplace.

This arrangement supports Stat processing, single loading area for routine specimens and single user-interface to monitor multiple instruments.

In addition, when used in conjunction with the Olympus OLA2500 series III laboratory automation system or OLA2500 high speed sorter, this innovative workplace concept provides a comprehensive solution for mid-to-large volume laboratories, including pre-analytical sample handling, decapping, aliquotting, sorting, loading, transporting, archiving and recapping of primary tubes.

Also on display at Medica will be Olympus's laboratory-wide data management system and additional software.
