Millipore announces availability of its 384-well MultiScreenHTS filter plates optimised for high throughput bioassays, including receptor-ligand binding and enzyme assays.

Available with glass fibre or phosphocellulose (PH) paper, the filter plates' automation compatibility increases throughput on a range of robots without sacrificing sensitivity, robustness or precision.

In addition, the plates provide a direct scale-up solution from 96-well filter based assays.

MultiScreenHTS 384-well plates with glass fibre FB or FC membrane are ideal for receptor-ligand binding assays.

The assays can be performed directly in the filter plates to conserve reagents and reduce radioactive waste.

Also, performing the assay in one plate minimises manipulations and eliminates the need for separate incubation plates.

Designed for coincidence scintillation counting, quantitative data can be collected at very low specific activity levels, and for challenging tritiated (3H) ligands.

Kinase assays are a critical step in both lead identification and characterisation processes.

Compared to most homogeneous assays, the MultiScreenHTS-PH 384-well filter plates are easy to set up, says Millipore.

The PH paper retains peptide substrates while the plate design allows rapid washing to remove the unreacted, labeled ATP (adenosine triphosphate).

In contrast to non-filter based methods, the PH paper also provides lower background and improved discrimination between drug target and non-hits.

Additionally, Millipore's prevalidated MultiScreen protocol eliminates the need to design, develop and optimise various combinations of reagents.
