Impact Factors released this week recognise Nature Publishing Group (NPG) as the leading publisher of high impact, high quality scientific journals
NPG publishes more of the top 20 journals by Impact Factor in science than any other publisher (eight of 20), according to the 2007 Journal Citation Report (Thomson, 2008) Nature, with an Impact Factor of 28.751, is the number one multidisciplinary science journal, ahead of its major competitor Science (26.372)

Launched in October 2006, Nature Nanotechnology is part of NPG's growing portfolio of leading physical science titles, which all improved their Impact Factors in this year's Journal Citation Report.
Two physical science journals received their second Impact Factor this year.
Nature Chemical Biology sees its Impact Factor increase to 13.683, improving its ranking to one of the top three monthly primary research journals in biochemistry and molecular biology.
Nature Physics's Impact Factor went up by more than two points to 14.677 and the journal remains the number one primary research journal in the category physics, multidisciplinary.
Nature Materials, with an improved Impact Factor of 19.782, continues its dominant position as the number one journal in three categories: physics, applied; physics, condensed matter; chemistry, physical and as the leading monthly journal in materials, multidisciplinary.
Nature Methods is now the number one journal in Biochemical Research Methods, continuing a year-on-year growth in citations with an Impact Factor of 15.478.
The Nature Clinical Practice series, launched in November 2004 and 2005, all saw substantial increases to their Impact Factors.
Three of the seven titles are now in the top five in their category, while six are in the top 10.
The new Impact Factors for these titles are: Nature Clinical Practice Oncology (8.217), Nature Clinical Practice Cardiovascular Medicine (4.743), Nature Clinical Practice Endocrinology and Metabolism (3.678), Nature Clinical Practice Gastroenterology and Hepatology (4.415), Nature Clinical Practice Nephrology (4.764), Nature Clinical Practice Neurology (4.339), Nature Clinical Practice Rheumatology (3.812), and Nature Clinical Practice Urology (2.104).
The Nature research journals continue to dominate the life sciences while all seven Nature Reviews journals remain the leading monthly review journals in their fields.
Nature Medicine (26.382) remains the leading journal in the category medicine, research and experimental while Nature Genetics (25.556) continues to be the number one journal in the genetics and heredity category.
Nature Biotechnology (22.848) is the number one ranking primary research journal in the Biotechnology and Applied Microbiology category and number two in the field, second only to Nature Reviews Drug Discovery (23.308).
Nature Reviews Immunology (28.300) and Nature Immunology (26.218) are the top two monthly immunology journals.
Nature Reviews Neuroscience (24.52) is the leading monthly review journal in neurosciences, while Nature Neuroscience (14.805) is the number one primary research journal.
Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology is the number one cell biology journal, in a top 20 dominated by six NPG titles: Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology (1st), Nature Medicine (3rd), Nature Cell Biology (5th), Nature Structural and Molecular Biology (13th), The EMBO Journal (18th), and Cell Death and Differentiation (19th).
NPG's open access online journal, Molecular Systems Biology, continued its strong growth with a second Impact Factor of 9.954 (up more than two on last year's figure), while NPG's academic and society journals also excelled.
The Journal of Investigative Dermatology's Impact Factor increased to 4.829, retaining its position as the leading Dermatology journal.
Molecular Psychiatry ranks second in Psychiatry journals with an impact factor of 10.900, while Neuropsychopharmacology (6.157) is number five in the field.
Kidney International (4.922) and Laboratory Investigation (4.479) are both in the top five in their categories, while Oncogene and Leukaemia rank in the top 15 for oncology journals.
Cell Research saw its Impact Factor increase to 4.217, and remains the leading science journal in China.
