Uniform ultraviolet and near IR light
sources
Because these new sources use aspheric lenses instead of spherical alternatives, they deliver a more uniform and collimated output beam
Newport has announced a new Oriel family of arc and QTH sources Focused output sources are also available, ideally suited for fibre illumination

"We are excited to offer these new Oriel broadband sources because they deliver superior image quality compared to traditional spherical lens-based systems," said Nancy Fernandes, Newport's Oriel product line manager.
"By offering this advanced optical design in our acclaimed Research, Simplicity and Series Q sources, we can now deliver an even broader range of fully characterized sources to our customers." Newport's Oriel Research Series Sources are the company's flagship solution.
It is a fully-featured, highly versatile system designed for researchers.
These solutions are ideal for customers that need to interchange lamps or have a stability critical application.
They are available with a fully configurable power supply that supports a wide variety of Oriel lamps.
The Oriel Simplicity series was designed to offer researchers and systems integrators who don't require all of the features of the Oriel research systems, a more economical choice.
As the name implies, this family of sources are very easy to use.
The power supply is factory pre-set for the specified lamp, so there are no power supply settings - just an on/off switch.
This limits the versatility of the series because customers can only run the specified lamp, but reduces the cost.
For customers that do not require the versatility of a Research series solution, the Simplicity series sources are an excellent alternative.
Newport's Series Q sources are very popular sources that are easy to operate and economically priced.
They feature a convective cooled lamp housing with up to four output ports for simultaneous irradiance of multiple samples.
