The Olympus BioScapes international digital imaging competition honours the world's finest life science images, both still and moving, as captured through light microscopes

Olympus America has named the judges for its fourth annual BioScapes international digital imaging competition The judges include some of the most widely recognised international researchers in the biomedical field, reflecting the competition's goal of honoring the most striking and significant life science images, image sequences and movies in the world each year

The judges for the 2007 competition include Kenneth Fish of the department of psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh, PA; Douglas Murphy, director of the light microscopy facility at Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Janelia Farms Research Campus, Ashburn, VA; Jason Swedlow, of the University of Dundee in the United Kingdom; and Clare Waterman-Storer, of the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

The competition focuses on the amazing life science stories being told through the images, and on the remarkable confluence of science and art.

The deadline for entering this year's competition is 28 September 2007.
