Microchannel plate banks used in space research

Optical Surfaces has announced that it has received a repeat order from Photonis SAS for production of high-precision microchannel plate banks to be used in a series of space research projects.

The microchannel plates are used as the detector element in single-photon UV and X-ray space imaging projects.

Photonis is a supplier of microchannel plate devices to the international space research community for detection and amplification of very low levels of radiation.

Photonis's microchannel plates offer a high L/D ratio to deliver good performance in gain for a variety of detector applications.

Their sustained output is up to 10 times greater when compared with conventional microchannel plates.
