Simplifid liquid media preparation

An Oxoid product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Jan 24, 2002

Oxoid Prepared Media Service offers pre-prepared 3l volumes of broth media and diluents supplied in compact plastic pouches for enhanced safety and convenience

Each Oxoid ReadyBag contains the equivalent of 13 standard 225ml aliquots, which can be dispensed quickly and easily using an autodiluter.

This eliminates the need for laborious and time-consuming bulk media preparation and reduces the risks associated with using glass containers (eg harm to personnel or contamination of production areas due to glass breakages).

Unlike large glass flasks, which are bulky and heavy, these compact bags are much easier to handle and store.

Furthermore, since they are simply disposed of along with normal laboratory waste when empty, they eliminate the need to wash and sterilise, or dispose of glassware.

ReadyBags are easily connected to tubing for standard laboratory dispensing equipment, such as gravimetric diluters or peristaltic pumps, by means of individually wrapped, sterile connectors.

Oxoid pays particular attention to all aspects of quality in the development and production of the prepared media range.

Each batch of ReadyBags is prepared under controlled conditions and is performance tested.

The products can be ordered through the Oxoid Prepared Media Service, ensuring a flexible, reliable supply.

Quality certificates are available on request giving customers valuable assurance as they strive to meet their own quality standards.

Oxoid ReadyBags are currently available in two formulations, Buffered Peptone Water, and Maximum Recovery Diluent, and are supplied in boxes of four 3l bags.
